A successful businessman had grown increasingly apprehensive of his ailing mother’s new husband following their unexpected marriage and contacted MegaGroup to conduct an initial background and asset investigation. Preliminary findings uncovered the Subject’s history of financial scams, falsified documents, predatory behavior and sexual battery against women.
Unsure of what could be done to protect his mother, the Client sought next-step advice. Based on the initial findings and confirmed suspicions, MegaGroup laid out a wider, more proactive investigation to assess current threats and anticipate new ones. Security strategies were put in place, as well as a respected team of legal counsel to represent the Client. In attempt to trace stolen funds from the elderly woman’s accounts, MegaGroup’s forensics team conducted an examination of computers utilized by the Subject in the family home. During the course of that investigation, certain information was uncovered which compelled the jurisdiction of federal law enforcement. MegaGroup worked with agents to ascertain the manner in which the information entered the computers and assisted in coordinating a raid to confiscate the drives.
Immediately following the raid, the Client’s mother fell suspiciously ill and passed away. Meanwhile, the Subject had fled the country, along with millions of the deceased woman’s money. MegaGroup assisted the Client in coordinating with a forensic laboratory to examine his mother’s tissue and blood samples and simultaneously initiated global efforts to track down the family’s stolen assets.
Throughout the next year, MegaGroup conducted extensive investigations in search of the Subject, ultimately locating him in a heavily-secured residence in Asia. Here, operatives conducted surveillance on the Subject and served him with multiple court documents authored by the legal team. MegaGroup also successfully traced the stolen money to financial institutions located across three different continents, facilitating in the freezing and recovery of the funds.
